A Lesser Equivalent

Alfred Stieglitz, Equivalent (Set H, Print 1), 1923

just now

plumped fluffy

full and massing

to a tarnished

glower, submerged

below coursing

oceanic blankets

windstraked thin

across the scrim-

shifted light

ceaseless series of

vaporous moments

ever

on the move

shape-shifting lazy

summer game to sense

drunk desperate rapture

looping back around

only to meet

enforced stillness

the mind seizes

half beats too late

paused pattern within

lucent fragments

tumbled by degree

navigating via imagined

cartography of wondrous

nomenclature, already perished

phenomena

tag teamed marquees flash

frozen posted

magnitudes

between nothing

and one

Through a cell phone, fuzzily

cottonwoods
breathy rushing

sibilance a spangling
shimmer

when wind flips green

jingles shiny

to matte back

and forth

sussed

out from
traffic’s
fluent friction
jets sundering

air, weedy

death rustles

managed river’s

church whisper

dog’s lolling rasp

humus crush
under spent

soles

Be careful what you ask for, indeed

Having posed as a quasi-savant in terms of opening certain file types, I decided that perhaps it was time for me to leave my own private Never-Land and attempt to create a blog for my email newsletter, The Monkey's Paw. I really should be doing more practical things, like getting our home loan modified or pinch hitting on a shutter sales call. Consider my virgin post a huge caveat, and yet another example of the dangers of wielding the Paw.
